Students will be using a variety of Web 2.0 tools as they learn about Online Safety. Below is a brief description of the Web 2.0 tools. In order to use all the tools listed below, students will need a mouse, a microphone, a set of earphones and a good imagination. No classroom or personal accounts will need to be set up and students will not be required to give out any personal information.
Lesson #1 - Tool
With Word Search Maker, students can make their own custom word search worksheets! A variety of options are available including font size, font style, lowercase or uppercase letters, grid shape, word placement, and more.
Students can also experiment with the settings to find the best results for printing their word search. You may also need to adjust your browser's page setup (change margins, header/footer, or switch to landscape/portrait mode), then go to 'Print Preview' before printing. These options are under your browser's File menu. Landscape mode works best for many puzzles. Also, try setting your margins to 0.5" or less.

Picture Book Maker allows students to create their own picture book based on the Children's illustrator Sarah Dyer. London Grid for Learning funded the creation of this online Picture book maker to
allow children to create their own picture books. This is an open resource. Students will not need a log in to use
this resource.
Lesson #3 - Tool
Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

Vacaroo is a free service that allows users to create audio recordings without the need
to install any software. You don't even have to create an account to use
Vocaroo. development though, so problems may occur. All you need to provide is a microphone. To create a recording just go to Vocaroo.com, click record, grant Vocaroo access
to your mic, and start talking. After completing your recording, Vocaroo gives you the choice to publish it or to
scrap it and try again.

SoftPrint allows students to make online posters for free. Students are able to create, download, save and print posters. Students are not required to set-up an account or provide personal information.

They include, for example, those wanting a few minutes of fun; youngsters and their parents; students and teachers; business executives trying to unwind from the stress of work, and activities directors and social workers who try to help people express their deepest thoughts and feelings. My intent is that you will regard this site as a safe place where you feel empowered to create and to test new ideas and ways to communicate through art and writing.

Tagxedo is a is a word cloud generator that allows the user to turn words into clouds. It graphically emphasizes the most frequently used words. It is similar to Wordle, but unlike Wordle Tagxedo allows you to shape-fill, i.e. create word clouds into a given shape. This is an amazing creativity tool - allowing your imagination to go wild!

No additional costs or fees, ever. There is a Uuique interface with features and functions never before seen online.

Build Your Wild Self is a very easy to use interface that allows students to create their own avatar. Students can select their human parts including gender, hair, eyes, mouth, and clothes. Then students can choose from a wide array of animal parts to create their own weird and wonderful creation. By creating their own avatar, student create online presence without compromising their need for safety and privacy.
Lesson #10 - Tool
Jeopardy Labs is a free service students can use to create their own online Jeopardy game. Jeopardy Labs provides a blank template on
which to build a game. Students do not need to register in order to build your own
game. However, if you want to be able to edit your game at a later point you
will want to create a password before you create your game. When completed, a students' game is given its one unique url. Post that url on your blog, wiki, or website
and anyone can then play your game. This online program allows students to create a customized jeopardy template without PowerPoint. The games students make can be played online from anywhere in the world. Building your own jeopardy template is a piece of cake.
